There are so many fun things to do in Charlotte. Attractions for the whole family can keep everyone busy and excited. For a breath of fresh air, check out some of our favorite parks in Charlotte. And make getting there from Concord lots of fun in a 2020 Mazda CX-30.
Near downtown Charlotte, there are 98 acres of nature at Freedom Park. Take a leisurely walk on the trails, which connect to Little Sugar Creek Greenway, or work up a sweat on the tennis courts. Kids will love the playgrounds and the antique steam engine where they can sit in the engineer’s seat. Other Charlotte attractions include Charlotte Nature Museum, located next door to the park.
One of the best things to do in Charlotte is to visit Uptown’s Romare Bearden Park. This urban park is inspired by the collages and paintings of Charlotte-born artist Romare Bearden. It features sculptures, waterfalls, two gardens, and ample space for activities and festivals. Check their schedule for concerts, art fairs, and fitness programs. It’s located across the street from BB&T Ballpark and is a perfect spot for watching post-game fireworks.
Get back to nature without leaving Charlotte at Reedy Creek Park and Nature Preserve. The park itself is 146 acres with over 10 miles of hiking trails, but it joins 727-acre Reedy Creek Nature Preserve and Reedy Creek Nature Center. Fish from the fishing pier, bring your pups to the dog park, or enjoy a wide variety of sports facilities: basketball court, two softball fields, soccer field, cricket field, four volleyball courts, an 18-hole disc golf course, and horseshoe pits.
On its own Park Road Park is a great Charlotte park, worth the drive from Mooresville with an 11-acre pond, walking trails, and sports facilities. What makes it extra special is the playground designed by local children in memoriam to the people who died at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.
