Christmas Family

While going home for the holidays can be a lovely break to the year’s routine, there are definitely some stressors that come along with it. Your family always seems to find that one topic you haven’t prepared for and asks you a million and one questions about it. In certain families, there’s always that one relative who wants to know everything about your car and how you take care of it—especially if you’re a new driver. If you’re in one of these families, here’s a quick study guide to help you nail the inquisition!

  1. MPG Question: What kind of gas mileage does this thing get? Question Explained: First off, if you’re unsure what this question means, don’t worry. It’s pretty simple. When someone asks about gas mileage, they’re asking how many miles will your car travel on one gallon of gas. This is also called MPG, or miles per gallon. This differs from car to car and can be affected by things such as speed, driving conditions, and how much weight is in the car. To find your car’s MPG, use this simple equation the next couple times you fill up the tank. Answer: My car gets about 20 miles to the gallon, more if I’m driving by myself.
  2. Oil Changes Question: When’s the last time you got an oil change? Question Explained: This question is usually asked to gauge how well you take care of your car. Most manufacturers recommend changing your car’s oil every 6 months or 3,000 miles. This is a fairly easy process and can be done quickly at many service centers. It’s important to record the date and mileage of your oil changes so you can easily keep track of when you’re due for another one. Answer: About 2 months ago, but I’m coming up on 3,000 miles, so I’ll probably take it in soon.
  3. Car Choice Question: Why’d you get a Mazda? Question Explained: Everyone’s a critic and everyone’s got an opinion. Unfortunately, there might be some people in your family who just don’t know how amazing your Mazda really is! While there are numerous reasons for owning a Mazda, knowing just a few should satisfy even the toughest car critic. Answer (just a few suggestions): I got a Mazda because I care about what I drive, SkyActiv technology, Mazda Connect, the amazing fuel economy, awesome handling, affordable without sacrificing style, etc. These are just a few of the questions you might be asked while home for the holidays. Being prepared to answer them will not only impress your family, but will help you understand how your Mazda works and make you love it even more!
