7 Creative Car Costumes for Halloween

October 7th, 2015 by

Halloween is just around the corner. Whether you’re still brainstorming costume ideas or you’ve already laid out your full cast ensemble from Orange is the New Black, you may have missed out on one key decision for this spooky season: your vehicle’s costume.

Now, you may be thinking, “why would my car need a costume?” but we all know the real question here is “why have I not thought about this before?” If your car will be sitting in your driveway on the 31st, or if you need some last minute ideas for your own costume, here are 7 great ways to dress up your car for the upcoming holiday:

Car Costumes

Herbie from Herbie Fully Loaded

This can be an easy costume to pull off for anyone with a rounder car. If your car is already a neutral color, just add some red, white, and blue ribbon stripes and tape a paper cut out of the number “53” on the side and front of your vehicle!

Car Costumes

Bumblebee from Transformers

If you have a yellow car and have never called your vehicle Bumblebee, you may need to have your nerd card revoked. This character from Transformers should be very easy to pull off for anyone with a yellow car, some tape, and a loud radio.

Car Costumes

The Bat Mobile from Batman

If you have a lot of children in your neighborhood and don’t want to decorate the house, this can make a great front yard centerpiece! Dress up like Batman, Robin, Cat Woman, or any hero from the famous comic series and add a simple bat symbol to your black car and you’ll be good to go.

Car Costumes

The V8 Interceptor from Mad Max

This year’s version of Mad Max might take Charlize Theron and a large truck to pull off, but for an easier car costume, you can leap back to 1979 and mount a fake gun on the hood of your vehicle to nail this simple transformation.

Car Costumes

Animated Car from Cars

This is another great car costume if you have children around. Take any color car and either draw or print out large eyes to stick on the inside of the windshield. You may need to work hard to find paper large enough, but this is a great way to dress up any vehicle you choose.

Car Costumes

The Delorean from Back to the Future

The Delorean may take a little more effort to complete — but 2015 only comes around once! Grab some tubing to tape around your car and be sure not to forget to add great character costumes from Back to the Future to this to bring the image to life.

Car Costumes

Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters

If you have a white car, this will make the perfect addition to your Ghostbusters group costume! Strap a series of tubes and gadgets (like water guns, pool noodles, anything that looks goofy and fitting for that universe) and add the Ghostbusters symbol to the doors of your car. You’ll be out fighting ghosts in no time.
