3 New Year’s Resolutions for Your Mazda

December 28th, 2016 by

Setting New Year’s resolutions is an annual tradition many folks observe. However, actually keeping them is another story. In fact, according to a study conducted by the University of Scranton, only 46% of New Year’s resolutions are kept by 6 months into the year. Typical resolutions include losing weight, eating better, and kicking a bad habit, but these prove difficult to fulfill. Luckily, we’ve got some resolution ideas that aren’t only easy to stick with, but will also keep your car running in top shape!

  1. Resolve to Change Your Oil This is a simple one to keep, however many people don’t change their oil as often as they should.  In general, we recommend you bring your car in for an oil change every 3,000 miles. This ensures your car’s engine runs smoothly and properly. Motor oil acts as a lubricant throughout your engine. As time goes on and it makes it way through various areas, it collects dirt, dust, and other nasty particles. This prevents it from flowing correctly and can lead to serious engine damage. Make a plan to bring in your Mazda to keep it running the way it should!
  2. Resolve to Take Care of Your Tires Tires are another aspect of cars too often overlooked, when in reality, they are one of the most important factors for a running car. Think about it. How far would you really get without them? Taking care of your tires doesn’t have to be a huge commitment, but paying attention to them will help them last longer, improve your fuel economy, and keep you safe on the road. The first thing to keep an eye on is tire pressure. Every vehicle has recommended tire pressure listed on the inside of your driver’s side door. Good tire pressure improves your gas mileage and traction, and it makes flats and blowouts less likely. The second thing is tire rotation. Most owner’s manuals recommend you take your car in for tire rotations every 5,000 miles. Rotating your tires helps you avoid too much wear and tear on any one area of your tire.
