Something Pumpkin for Fall

Pumpkin is the flavor of fall, it can go in almost anything! If you are wanting to mix up dinner, try this slow-cooker curried pumpkin soup. The soup calls for two and a half cups of water, 15 ounces of pumpkin, two quartered medium tomatoes, one peeled and diced medium potato, one chopped medium onion, two to three teaspoons of curry powder, two teaspoons chicken bouillon granules, ½ teaspoon of salt, ⅛ teaspoon of cayenne pepper and black pepper, one cup of two percent milk, and ½ cup of heavy whipping cream. You can top your soup with pepitas or red pepper flakes. The kick from the curry powder mixed with the creamy texture will make this a fall go-to.

A Traditional Meal

If you want a more traditional, hearty meal to warm you and your family up on a cold October night, try Grandpa’s German-Style Pot Roast. What you will need is four thick strips of bacon, one pound of baby Yukon Gold potatoes, four medium sliced carrots, 14 ounces of sauerkraut, ¾ cup of chopped dill pickles, one teaspoon smoked paprika, one teaspoon ground allspice, ½ teaspoon kosher salt and pepper, one three-pound boneless beef chuck roast, two packages of frozen pearl onions, four cloves of minced garlic, ½ cup stout beer or beef broth, ⅓ cup of Dusseldorf mustard, ½ cup of sour cream, and ½ cup of minced parsley. This traditional meal will surely be a family favorite!

Spiced Squash to Warm You Up

This spiced squash recipe is super easy and will be the perfect way to warm up on a chilly night. You will need ¾ cup of brown sugar, one teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 2 small acorn squash that you halve and seeded, ¾ cup raisins, four tablespoons butter, and ½ cup of water. Enjoy a cool night with this warm meal!

Fudgy Peanut Butter Cake

Sometimes dinner just is not complete without dessert. If you are looking for a great recipe to help satisfy your sweet tooth try this fudgy peanut butter cake! Grab ⅓ cup of two percent milk, ¼ cup of peanut butter, one tablespoon of canola oil, ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract, ¾ cup of sugar that you divide, ½ cup of all-purpose flour, ¾ teaspoon of baking powder, two tablespoons of baking cocoa, and one cup boiling water. Once dessert is ready, top the cake with either chocolate or vanilla ice cream.
