Daylight savings is two weeks away, but you will want to prepare for the changes that will happen when the clock springs forward for the spring season. Be aware that it will take time, but here are some tips to help you prepare and adjust for daylight savings time.

Adjust Your Bedtime

As daylight savings time approaches, you should prepare to adjust your bedtime schedule. However, be sure to do it gradually. You should not change your bedtime by a whole hour when daylight savings occurs. You will not be able to sleep as well by changing your schedule by an entire hour. Instead, over the next few days adjust your bedtime by 10 minute increments.

Do Not Take a Nap

As tempted as you may be to take a nap on that Sunday, please refrain. Taking a nap could throw you off as you attempting to wake up and go to work on Monday morning. If you absolutely have to take a nap, then do not wait to late in the day and make it a cat nap. Your nap should be thirty minutes or less.

Eat a Light Dinner

The night before daylight savings, you should eat a light dinner. This will help you sleep better through the night. A heavier dinner could affect your body from not being able to go to sleep as it tries to focus on digesting a heavier meal.

Stay Active in the Evening

Though the days may get longer in the spring, it may be difficult at first to stay up during the evening. You have been going to bed earlier in the wintertime, and you have grown accustomed to the routine. Try to stay awake in the spring evenings with light activity like a leisure walk or grocery shopping.

If you follow these tips, you will be able to smoothly transition from the winter season to the spring.
