The Raptor Trail
The Carolina Raptor Center features a scenic trail where guests can explore the preserve and see the various birds of prey that live on-site. The self-guided tour stretches three fourths of a mile, making for an easy trek through the beautiful surroundings. You can also bring a camera to capture photos of the various raptors along the trail.
Conservation and Rehabilitation
While the center’s year-round residents offer an enlightening glimpse at rare and fascinating species, there are many more birds that come and go as part of the center’s raptor care efforts. More than 90 birds live full-time at the Carolina Raptor Center, and thousands more have come through for rehabilitation over the last 40 years. The center functions as the largest raptor medical center in the U.S., and more than 900 birds are brought to the center each year for care, with abut 70 percent returning to the wild.
